I posted a while back asking for lawyer information in the daegu area. I was owed 3.0 from a school and the gyopo one-jung refused to pay it. It was a part time job that I had during my vacation from my real job, so I was not under contract, going just on our oral agreement.

Well, she refused to pay and I looked for a lawyer, and in the end did not need one. I took her to court and the woman did not show up. Because the woman did not show, the judge got extremely mad and ruled in my favor that second. He also got steaming angry because she is under the F4 visa and that she could be deported for breaking the law by not showing up on the designated court date. And the judge said that I did not need to be under contract to get my money! The labor board can only help you if your under contract. So, if your an f2 and your have a scrmish with a one-jung who wont pay, take them to court.

Now, she has 15 days to pay. If she does not pay, I can go into her home and two schools and take whatever I want to that totals 3 million. Also her bank accounts will be frozen.....

When I posted last time many people said that one-jung's are notorious for moving funds so as to avoid payment. But she cant do that because if he bank account information is moved, her students parents will be contacted to see what bank account they are sending their tuition to! And I know that she does not want parents notified.

She dug her own grave and deserves whats coming to her! Karma comes back to bite people in the arse! I will be having a beer for sure tonight!

As you can see I am pretty happy!

She's not a Korean citizen? Have some real fun. File a claim against her in a small claims court in your home country (as she or her agent was doing business there--to wit, getting you recruited for the job).

You know you can't just walk in and take stuff. You'll have to get a court appointee to go in, tag all the assets, and then the court will make a determination of the value of those assets. They'll be sold at that price and then you'll get your funds.

Been down that road more times than I care to count.

You haven't won till the cash is in your hot little hand.
(What was that old adage about counting chickens before they hatch?)

I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor.

You won the first round. You will NOT win the next round....you will not be able to collect or take what you feel is worth 3.0.
You will see and learn what I am talking about when you try and collect.

I hate to be like all the other negative Nancys, but just because you won...doesn't mean you won. Let us know a couple of months down the road.

Sounds like you should get your money relatively quickly, although the advice about not counting your chickens is wise.

If your story is correct, that she has ongoing, operating businesses and bank accounts, she'd be smart to just pay you now. But even if she doesn't pay, if the judge actually freezes her bank accounts, she will finally have to pay you. So, I'd guess that you get paid in 30 days or less.

Don't count your chickens before they've hatched.

In any case, the director has a documented history of labor abuse which will stay with them forever.

Not counting your chickens before they hatch is wise. Yes I did win the first round. Everyone has to remember that the director is on a f4 visa and is not going to get the same treatment as a citizen would. If the judge so chooses, when she breaks the law, she could have that put on her record, which makes it hard to renew her visa.

It's a victory that I am happy with now, but yes I will have to wait and see.

I hope you prevail in the end....so many have been screwed over by school owners...but....it's not foreigner vs foreigner.....you are an outsider and will never be allowed into the inner circle....meaning in this case.....the korea "foreigner" will win the final round.
