What is the technical term for when a statement is turned into a question by a negation of the verb? I'm having trouble looking it up in my grammar book.
For example:
"He doesn't like roses, does he?"
or
"Class is finished now, isn't it?"
Any teaching tips on this topic would be appreciated too! |

First, it's grammar. Second, I think you mean question tags. There are some basic rules for them that you can drill into your kids. |

Yes drill the rules first then, If you're teaching questions tags for confirmation with falling intonation, have your kids write some sentences about their partner they think are true, e.g. He likes starcraft, he's got a sister etc.. then they can confirm their statements with a tag and see how many they got right
'You like starcraft don't you
You've got a sister haven't you' etc.... |
