I got a new pair of glasses today. The frame was 100,000w and my lenses were 80,000w (my eyes are real bad). 180,000w total.
I remember like 4 years ago I could get 2 pairs of glasses for 100,000w. |

| 100,000 was what I paid 2 months at Italy Optical in Itaewon for a nice pair of memorex bendy frames with Japanese lens. They are phenomenally good. Best I have ever had by far. It was supposed to be Korean lens, but oddly, the motor bike driver only delivered one single lens so he sent the driver back for a set which ended up being Japanese at no additional charge. They are amazing quality of lens. |

if you have bad eyes, that can really drive up the price. I had the strongest lenses they had available for 110,000 And those were just the basic Korean ones. |

Have you ever considered ordering you glasses online? I believe some sites will ship worldwide. It's way way way cheaper online because there is no overhead of running an actual optical store.
Sites like Zenni Optical, 39dollarglasses, glasses unlimited, eyebuydirect, etc? |

My head is big, and my face is wide. I really do need to try on glasses to make sure they fit right so I can't buy them online.
I gotta pay a lot for lenses because I have bad eyesight. I don't want the thick, coke bottle lenses. |

Well most of the online sites have the measurements of the frames, and on some you can even print out the actual size of the frame and try them on. Also, they sell all kind of different lens types such as PolyCarb and High Index....not CR-39's coke bottles. |

| 180k for something that lasts for ages seems cheap. Even if you buy a new pair every six months, it's still only the same price as an average night on the town. |

The sites HalfJapanese is suggesting sell prescription glasses plus frames for about $7.00.
My friends have ordered from Zenni Optical (to Canada) and had no complaints. |

| Why don't you just use Bates Method. I haven't worn those dreadful eye crutches for years. |

I got mine at Walmart while I was home. Fifty dollars for the exam and about a hundred for the sale frame with a no-line bifocal lens. It wasn't my first choice frame, but it's cute enough. Gone are the days when I wore designer frames. They get knocked off so fast that people can tell your expensive frames from the ones being sold at Wal-mart. There are only so many manufacturers anyway, so they are probably the very same frames. People don't have to know what you spent, and unless you buy the ones with the stupid initials on the sides, they won't know the label either.
(and why would you want someone elses initials ON YOUR FACE?!!) |

Less than 200 for glasses? Considering my frames + lenses are usually 400USD+, 200 is a steal.
And the lenses are better... laughably so. Can't believe that I spent so much before and got so little. |

| I still never pay more than 85,000. Maybe you need to try another place? |

Frames are going to vary in price big time. Cost of lenses can vary too. If you opt to get thinner lenses, those cost more than the thick plastic ones. If you wear thin frames, this might be cover the cost difference.
Really I'd say you only paid $20 more on the lenses and you just happened to pick more expensive frames.
I got a pair a few months ago. My frames were $50 (stylish but not namebrand to my knowledge) and my lenses were $50. But I got the cheap lenses that are thick as hell. Most people I know report spending about $100.
I'm going in soon to see about prescription sunglasses so we'll see how that goes. |
