Is there a chain of stores where I can buy timber and hardware products?

Emart and Homeplus often have a few aisles dealing with home appliances but no wood!

I need to get wood. Why can't I get wood in Korea?

My neighborhood is full of lumber yards. They aren't chains and they aren't in Gyeonggi Do, though. The ones near me are in the basement of normal houses. There the odd joiner and plumber as well.

Ask a Korean where the similar area is in your town are. I don't think they have the equivalent of Mitre 10, Bunnings (Aus/NZ ) in Korea.

Maybe you just need to get to a pharmacy! Smile

Kidding aside, there are places to buy wood in Seoul. They are well hidden. I know there are a couple on the 46 from Guro to Bupyeong. Just look for the oddly placed wooden picnic tables or wooden swing on the sidewalk.

It took me some time to track these down as well. There is an area near Jongno (it's been a while but between Jongno-3ga and Jongno-5ga) that has a street of such stores. In Jeonjga, Bundang, across the Tancheon from the subway station there is a street of stores for lumber, textiles, and various other home needs.

Are you building a boat? Laughing
