I am hoping everyone who writes on this forum can help me with some advice as the best cell phone that will fits my needs and the average price I should expect to pay.
Here are a list of things I would like my cell phone to have:
1. text messaging capability
2. GPS
3. Skype (I know some phones like the Iphone have this. Are there any other phones that have Skype capability? Here in the US some cell phones have the capability to also Skype video conference.)
4. Internet
I know the iphone has all of this but are there any other phones that have everything I am looking for where I do not have to spend the money on an iphone?
The main reason I am also looking at not to get an iphone is that I am planning on getting a new ipod touch that will do everything the iphone does when the new ipod comes out in September and when I come back to the states I can still have my ipod.
Thanks in advance for all the help. |

Almost all Korean handphones will have 1 and 2 built in. 3 is normally in all phones as well, but the usability of the internet can be quite irritating on a non-smart phone. Skype is not available on the Android platform quite yet so the iPhone is the only choice for that.
If you want a phone that can do all of these things well you are going to be paying iPhone-esque prices. This you cannot escape. My personal recommendation depending on the carrier would be as follows.
LG - Optimus Q (runs Android 1.6, upgrading to 2.1 in July/August, and what I personally own)
SK - Galaxy S (the BIG phone to challenge the iPhone)
KT - iPhone (iPhone 4 coming out in Korea soon, 3GS will be dropping in price and will be obtainable for very reasonable prices)
Anything else will be doing yourself a great disservice for what features you are looking for. Skype will be coming to Android but it hasn't been released yet. If you are looking to spend money on a new Touch then it'd almost be ridiculous not to get an iPhone. Less money to spend and one less gadget to carry around. Hell, if you wanted to save money I'd sell you my brand new 3GS and you could just go and get it hardware unlocked to work on a Korean carrier.
my 2 cents. |

How is the OP going to save money purchasing your foreign bought iphone?
1. Phones from other countires have to be registered to be used here.
That would cost 200,000-300,000.
2. Unless of course you are selling it for like 5,000 Won.
Hell, then I would offer 5,500!
My 20 Won.
