It is really not that complicated.

There are 4 main documents (and scans of a few supplemental items) necessary for the initial visa application process.
1) criminal record check
2) degree (or copy)
3) transcripts
4) contract

Supplemental:
4 photos
scan of your passport
scan of your degree

Your CBC/CRC needs to have an apostille. This MAY require a notarization depending on the requirements of the state.

IF you plan to use a copy of your degree (instead of the original or university issued duplicate) then it needs to be notarized AND have the apostille.

Your transcript needs to be an "official transcript" issued by the uni in a university sealed (tamper proof) envelope. You may need 2 or 3 of these (1 for immigration, 1 for the consulate, and possibly 1 for your employer).

These are sent to Korea to obtain your "visa confirmation number". This process usually takes 12-21 working days.

Your school/recruiter will then send this number to you.

AFTER you obtain this number from your recruiter you will then go to the embassy/consulate to get your visa placed into your passport.

At the consulate you will need 1-2 passport sized photographs, fill in an application, pay the fee, have your interview. They will then take your passport and put the visa into it. This can take anywhere from a few hours to 3-4 days.

AFTER you get your visa you come to Korea and start work.

Hope that has been some help to clear things up for you.

Hi There,

Try to get your sealed transcripts posted directly to you or even online if possible.

This will save a trip here.

Call the consulate and find out the requirements to save that trip. Tell them you live rurally and get the interview by phone.

Make sure you have the degree.

Can you order the criminal record check by phone or do you have to go in?

Tompatz has got the most sound advice around. The advice on the extra photographs is also a good idea.

If you have to go in it may be for the consulate interview, police station for the check depending and to the apostille office. When you go to the apostille office you will need the degree, police check and transcript.

For official douments to be accepted for work in Korea they will need the apostille.
