I'm flying into Manila for one week and was wondering what the best (closest, and not to expensive to get to) beach to go to nearby would be. Is it worth it to fly or are there nice beaches that can be reached by bus/ ferry?
Any advice is welcome! |

Depends on WHEN you are going (start of typhoon season in the northern 1/2 of the RP.
There are beaches you can get to (Mindoro, Subic, southern Tagalog) by bus and boat.
Domestic flights are CHEAP so places like Boracay and Alona/Bohol, Malapasqua, etc are all within reach too.
Pricing is all relative. AS A TOURIST you can get by on as little as $25 per day (basic room with air and meals) or go as high as $150 per day (deluxe suite with all the mod cons) for your room.
Both options are available at just about every "tourist destination" in the RP.
With 7107 islands to choose from a "which beach can I go to?" question is pretty hard to give a concise answer to.

Personally, for 1st time visitors to the Phils on a short vacation I recommend Boracay or Bohol.
Both are easy to get to, have decent tourist infrastructure, have enough to keep you busy for a week and give you a nice taste of the country without too much stress.
Both are also out of the typhoon belt so your chances of good weather are much better than the locations in the north of the country at that time of the year.
The disadvantage to Boracay at that time of the year is the winds are blowing on-shore (most of the time they are blowing off-shore) so there is often sea grass in the water and some people are not comfortable swimming in the sea grass. The diving however is great as is the night life. |
