|
|
Hi there,
I used the search function but I don't have the time to sift through the results. Could someone give me some info on how long it should take to have my visa processed in BKK? Any info on how to find the embassy would also be appreciated. |

"I did a visa run to Bangkok last week, so I thought I'd give some information about it. I wrote ahead, which was lucky because the embassy only accepts visa applications from 1:30 to 3:30. Also, they required a copy of your passport information page, your passport, your visa issuance number, and a passport photo. I had to wait around for about 45 minutes or so before I could turn my info in, so you should get there early.
Turn around was one day. Pickup is between 10:30 and 11:30 the following day.
The address is:
23 Thiam-Ruammit Rd., Ratchadapisek,
Huay_Kwang, Bangkok 10320
Email: [email protected]
My guesthouse wrote the address in Thai for me and the several taxi drivers I used were able to find the embassy pretty easily.
Taxi's cost about 80 baht from the Siam Square area and about 120 baht from the Khao Sarn Road area. It is a bit more back to the Khao Sarn area (used the tollway which costs 40 baht but saves half an hour in Bangkok traffic).
Finally, it cost 1,440 baht for the multi-entry E-2 visa." |

Yes, the turnaround is one day. The other poster gave the address for you. It can be a tricky place to find. The embassy is located near the Thailand Cultural Center just off of Ratchadapisek. Proceeding from there, you would go towards Carrefour and turn right at the intersection in front of it. The embassy is a couple of Kilometers down there on the left.
Something like a map: http://www.bkk-maps.com/images/thailand-cultural.jpg |

I got my Visa last October in Bangkok. Had no problems at all. It only took one day. Just make sure you have all your documents and follow laconic's advice, write down the address so the taxi driver knows how to get there. |

laconic2,
just wondering, because of the political events/turmoil
you did a visa run to Bangkok last week?
so the airports open and running/and consulates?
I had heard that things were shut down and have not been able to find out more, so since you were successful, i take it things are functioning ok |

they can't shut down BKK International and the Thai's can't close the Korean Embassy. I got my visa during a coup under Marshall Law. |

I am in Bangkok now. The Phuket Airport was closed for a brief period about 10 days ago, long since reopened. The Bangkok Airport was never under threat.
I ate lunch at the Carrefour near the Korean Embassy yesterday. Everything is business as usual in downtown Bangkok, just stay away from the Thai Government House were there is an active protest (no reason you would need to go there for a visa run). |

after a few really long taxi rides i now just take the subway there.
if youre on khao san, a tuk tuk to Hua Lamphong, hop on the subway it's lightning fast, then get off at the RatchaphowdoyouspellitendsinK stop. bout a ten minute walk.
best if you've cabbed it before as you'll recognize which way to walk easily. |

Bump. I couldn't find any info more recent than this, and the Korean Embassy in Bangkok web site isn't very helpful.
I'm leaving for Thailand soon for a vacation/visa run. It'll probably be at least a few weeks before I get my visa clearance number. Anyone done this visa run lately that can tell me what docs I'll need?
I know that you typically need passport photos, your passport, some cash, and your visa clearance. Anyone know if there's anything else I'll need? |

the mall over there near the Korean embassy (walking distance) you can find cotton sheets, I bought 2 sets while there, very nice ones.
if you have to wait around for your number, you might consider a trek to Cambodia - my best visa run ever was Bangkok - Siam Reap - Bangkok in about 10 days more or less (don't recall exactly). I took a train from Bangkok to the border, bused over, 4 days in Siam Reap, boat and taxi back to the border and a bus back to Bangkok. was in August too, hot and steamy, not much rain!
have fun |

I did my latest visa in Bangkok earlier this year. I don't think you need any extra documents, just what's normally required for the E2.
As others said earlier, take a taxi with the address of the embassy written down to show your driver. It's tricky to get there from the subway station. You can find the address on google maps. |
