1) Bars and restaurants are fretful because of the lost business. One report said the economic effect of the national team was 2.6 trillion won per win
2) The mood in the country won't be as jovial as it has been the past few weeks.
3) No more red shirts (and I'm thankful for this).
4) I'll get more sleep. |

| The world cup is not over though. There are still many matches to be played! Does that mean there are no real football fans here in KOrea? |

| The Red Devils is what concerns Korean fans; not soccer itself except at public schools where the game is commonly played by kids. It is very much about nationalism and proud, "can do," attitude to support the home team. Only time I hear people such as my neighbors watching games is when the Korean team played. So much for the happy go lucky souls in red shirts and blinking light up horns. It is an unfortunate loss for Korea, but maybe they need to develop the team more before realizing a victory of seizing the 5kg gold World Cup trophy. Seoulites got a taste of the good life when the trophy went on world tour not to long ago. |

Because Korea is out of the World Cup ....
... maybe Japan will be the first Asian team to go to the quarters?
Just a thought, lol. I'm definitely still in the game though: go Germany! |

| For what it is worth, Korea made it to the round of 4 (semi-finals) in 2002 when they co-hosted the cup. |

| I can't wait to find out if I can brag and boast to everyone in the country who isn't from England, should we win. I would only dream of doing so because USA were so dirty and mean around us when playing us. 'Booo Rooney is f****** sh*tttt, ahhhh!' Nevermind that he's probably the third best - or around there at least - player in the world. |

Judging from reactions at the bars and from what I've heard in my officetel, there'll be an uptick in joviality if Japan loses. |

No doubt about that.
I remember the last WC, the only cheers that competed with a Korean goal were those of a Japanese opponent. |

Of course their team is the first priority. But I know many, many Koreans who have watched every world cup game and will continue to do so until it's over. I also know a bunch of Koreans who watch the EPL every weekend. And don't say this is just for Park Ji-Sung. He doesn't even play that often.
Some of my old neighbours in England only watched world cup games if England were playing, as they weren't really football fans. So can we say the same thing about the English, as you are saying about Koreans? |

How many goals or assists did (using past as there is only 20 minutes left in England's World Cup) Rooney get this tournament? 0. What was his dribbling success rate? 14.3%.
He is good but by no means a top 5 or even a top 10 player.
Oh, and I forgot that the English are pure gentlemen when it comes to football banter.
edit:oops! fixed the url.

Yeah, he is in his longest drought since the dawn of time, so his ranking right now is sucky, but he IS better. Just not now. I mean obviously he has nothing on Messi or Ronaldo, who are also consistent.
And yes, you highlighted a point everybody knew in order to try and degrade someone. Unlucky, since the entire point was that we both have a dirty rivalry with each other (not necessarily limited to football, since we're *supposedly* much better). |
