Hey there!
English Summer Camp is upon us!! For those of you in GEPIK, you probably know what I'm talking about.... Mine's 2 weeks, and I teach 3-6 grades.
Does anybody have any ideas/ games/ crafts/ lesson plans they'd be willing to share?
Thanks in advance! |

My summer camp days encompass 4 classes so I have picked a theme for each day and expand that over all classes.
On one day I chose music:
Class 1:
- Review Rolling Stone magazines and look at pictures and videos of concerts I've attended. (Gets them awake and somewhat interested)
Class 2:
- PPT with vocabulary pertaining to music and concerts. I've got it all from tickets, to instruments to merchandise. I also created a worksheet as a review and take home. (Use lots of colorful pictures and popular music.)
Class 3:
- Time to read concert posters. In the past I have separated the class into teams as I displayed various concert posters on the board. They need to write down the information that is displayed; artist, tour, date and location depending on each poster. This gets them writing and speaking as a team.
Class 4:
- Draw your own concert poster. I review the terms with them and ask them to draw their own concert or event poster making sure to include all pertinent information. If you still have time left over get some students to present their posters to the class.
I was told that summer camp needs to be a lot of fun and as creative as possible. Each day my schedule includes some kind of wake-up activity and some kind of fun-tivity. One day I even have them making pancakes. Don't be afraid to try some fun stuff. |
