I'm assuming you're in Seoul since you didn't specify? All of the major cities have an entire street dedicated to this kind of store, just like there's a motorcycle street, electronics street, etc. You're probably looking for a hardware street. Since I'm in Daegu, I don't know where the one in Seoul is, but I have no doubt it exists.

There was a hardware store that had everything I could possibly want for hardware goods. It was in Gwanghwamun, near the burger king... right by the apostille place. Good luck. It's so hard to find construction supplies for foreigners here. I finally have all of the silicon sealant (white or clear) that I could possibly need for the new apartment I'm moving in to. I also bought so much expanding/hardening foam to fill cracks if there are any holes where bugs might come in.

There is a whole street down near Dongdaemun. It is on the Cheonggicheon (sp?) stream. Don't know the subway exit though, sorry.

If you know the Jongno area, then I could help you out a bit more.

You could go to Jonggak station and head towards the stream. Once at the stream, take a left (towards Dongdaemun) and you will see plenty of hardware stores on the right of the stream.
