|
|
Hi, I've been starting to apply to a lot of South Korean recruiters in the past week in case my primary application to a program (sponsored by the Korean government) falls apart.
My question is, is it safe for me to fully scan my passport information and fully show it to recruiters upon request? What bits of information on the passport are only needed while ensuring my safety and avoiding the risk of identity theft? Can I censor my passport number?
Thanks alot guys if you can help me out. =) |

It's fairly common practice. They want to make sure that you've got enough time on your passport, as well as possibly run it by immigration. |

I too was uncomfortable with emailing a scan of my passport.
But i've done it so many times over the last few years that i don't mind now. It's common practice for recruiters to ask for a scan.
We just have to hope that it's not a schiester at the other end of the email. If it's a legitamite recruiter then it should be fine. |

If you're that worried, you can always blank out the numbers on the scan before you send it. |

There isnt anything people can get off of your passport page anyway.
Other than the information you are already supplying for them anyway. DOB and full name. |

That's a big negatory, good buddy.
Blank out the passport number and the string of numbers at the bottom of your passport. They don't need to see that until they're ready to apply for your visa.
Why share wiTh potential recruiters your passport number when you don't need to? No reason, that's why. |
