And no I don't mean lifting up your trouser leg at some dodgy corner where there are lots of drunk businessmen on a Friday night.

I'm going to Japan but not so excited about the horrible state of the Won. What do most people do when they change to foreign currencies.

- Go to a travelex

- Access your Korean account from an international or Citibank

- Wire transfer through Western Union

- Any other ways?

Cheapest, I think, when you want to sell won, is getting foreign currency at your Korean bank. However, they usually only have euros, RMBs, US dollars... and yen! Go there.

Cool

I'll do that. The other day one of my teachers suggested that I get a cirrus bankcard and access the bank account directly through one of the ATM's there. Not as good as changing won into yen at the Korean bank?

An ATM there, accessed with a debit card, should be quite similar, though subject to daily limits. Remember, though, that you will want SOME cash - I wouldn't be comfortable with less than a few hundred thousand won worth before departure.
