I am on the second year of my contract. So I went to the US for vacation but my visa didn't have any re-entry permit thing and they cancelled my visa.
I didn't know I needed to get one, went international twice last year and no issues. Apparently last year's visa had multiple re-entry thing but second year nothing not one. Talked to immigration supervisor. He understands the situation but there's nothing he can do. Rules are rules. My fault, shoulda looked into it but it's done now. Visa can't be reinstated.
I now have to do everything over again as if I were it were two years ago. I'm okay with that except for the criminal records check. I don't feel like flying another 26 hours just for a document.
So my question: can the records check be done without me physically being there? Any other outs or advice will be most appreciated. |

I was in a similar situation when I went to Thailand last year (didn't realize that my final entry date did not extend when my visa was extended). Anyway, I didn't have to get a new CRC. The same afternoon I returned from Thailand and learned my visa was voided, my boss called immigration and got me a new visa issuance number immediately without any new documents.
Maybe it was because I was only gone a week. How long were you gone? |

I was gone two weeks. My provincial office guy wanted me to do a totally new one because they believe USA is too full of criminal activity. He mentioned if I had gone to Japan instead it would have been all right. |
