Just curious to hear from other August 2011 hires.
I signed and sent my contract but still waiting for the visa stamps etc..
Anyone here in the same boat or already received your visa paperwork from SMOE?

Wow awesome for you!
I put down Seoul as my second option when I applied to EPIK. My application has been a bit messed up, as my recruiting agency didn't send through my lesson plan, so i'm still waiting ten days after the interview!!!
I think I will get in? I doubt it would take ten days to get a no. My fingers are crossed, anyway!
You must be so excited What happens once you've been accepted and sent in your documents? |

Well, generally after the interview you'll be notified of whether or not you're hired. To be honest, a 10 day delay may not mean anything good or bad just that they are busy or buried under applications. Try not to be obsessive about it but stay in touch with your recruiter to make sure they get the lesson plan in.
Assuming you're hired, then you will need to send in your original documents (CRC/TESOL cert etc.) and then they will send you your letter of hire and stamps to go a Korean embassy/conulate. The embassy then stamps your passport etc. so you can get into S. Korea.
Keep us posted and by all means good luck!
Small question - you were definitely not hired by EPIK then? Just curious.
Regards,

Thanks for that info! I'm wanting to leave my current city ASAP to travel, I only came back here to help my family out after the earthquake. Wondering if it would make things too complicated if I was trying to do my TEFL/organise everything from the beaches in Bali haha.
I'm not really sure what's going on haha - I think I will get accepted by EPIK Seoul, which I thought was called SMOE? My recruiter said this yesterday:
"Thanks for your update.
I'm pretty sure you will get through as EPIK requested about the Seoul info.
It is just taking a little longer as they have transferred your application from national EPIK to EPIK Seoul."
And he said this a few emails prior:
"I heard from the coordinator yesterday and they are processing your application with SMOE so I should have an update for you very shortly "
WAITING SUCKS. Sorry for hijacking your thread! |

Do you mean you got your NoA?
Alot of us have just passed the document screening and now in the process of getting recommended to the POE. When the NoA comes from the POE we take that to the consulate/embassy to get a Visa. |

I also passed my EPIK SMOE interview and my documents are with EPIK but I was told the NoA's are not sent out until late June/July :/ |

No, I did not get my NOA. That's what I was curious about - had anyone else received it already. I'm trying to make some travel plans and plan in general so I wanted to get that out of the way. I didn't want to bother or annoy anyone with a check in email. I heard they started to go out in June.
I have signed the contract as well but it sounds like you have already done that too?

I dont know what you mean about a "contract"
The only things i had to sign was the applications, sworn declaration, and addendum. It was not a contract saying my benefits, pay, etc.
I was told by my recruiter they will start passing out NoA's during late June at the earliest. |

My original post was specifically in reference to the visa paperwork. Was it received by anyone or not for the August group?
So the thread isn't hijacked (as one person has already apologized for doing) and those posting questions get their questions answered better (ie. what is a contract, addenda etc., the general hiring process etc..) I might suggest starting a thread dedicated to just that or following one of the other threads covering that.
So, just to clarify, for those who have been hired and have a contract already signed, the question is, have you received your visa paperwork yet from SMOE? If you have not signed a contract or don't know what one is, you probably cannot answer this question and a separate thread will serve you better in getting answers about other issues.
Politely offered.

I've signed my contract for the August intake, and haven't received any visa paperwork yet, or even been told when I should expect them. They received my contract from me only a little while ago though. Although knowing SMOE it will take a while. I worked with them before and they probably wont give them out until July. Although I have no confirmation on this for sure. If I hear anything then I'll post it here. |

Thanks for responding Misty.
Yup, that sounds pretty much like my situation as well. I'll post or pm if I get anything or get any new information on it. I'd appreciate knowing any changes that come your way if it's not too much trouble.
Looks like we're hanging tight for another few weeks.

From all I've heard this is the longest and most agonizing part of the process...as is it wasn't hard enough to get all the documents together.
What do you think is the worst that can happen if I accidentally sent a copy of the TESOL without apostille for the second screening? |

You'll just waste money on postage. |
