I'm kinda surprised there weren't more on there, like the Excel or anything else by Ssanyong.

12. Kia Rio
You can hardly be surprised to see a Kia in this illustrious list of lemons. That the company is enjoying a turnaround these days just makes how stunningly inept the Rio was all the more remarkable. It was slow, ugly and poorly put together using materials that look more carcinogenic than a weekend in Chernobyl.
13. Ssanyong Rodius
Being the black sheep of Koreas vast automotive export market is quite a feat. Like being the prisoner in the sex offenders wing that no one will share a cell with.
The Ssangyong Rodius is retinal violation of biblical proportions from the country that invented aesthetic crimes against motoring humanity. This is the Frankenstein school of car design: chopping the ugly bits off other, almost as ugly cars, then welding them together in an awful hurry before attaching a battery. Form and function need to be closely allied when it comes to cars. The Rodius is magnificently short on both. Which is an alliance of sorts.

Some of the inclusions on that list seem a little unfair to me. The Corolla? I don't think Toyota were trying to impress Jeremy Clarkson when they built it. I'm not saying I would buy one, but you could do a lot worse.
I like the inclusion of the TVR Cerbera. I spent hours unlocking it on the original Gran Turismo, only to find it suffered from fatal over steer. It was possible to put it into a ditch doing 40 kms!
Surprized that they put the X-type Jag on the list. I'm pretty sure it got good reviews on Top Gear, and it is about as good looking as 4 door saloons get, in my opinion.
My pick for worst car would be the Prius. Just sayn' |

I edited my original post because I screwed up the cut and paste. I like how they refer to Korea as "the country that invented aesthetic crimes against motoring humanity." |

When I lived in Japan, I had a Toyota Corolla II hatchback. That car was great. |

| In all fairness there are nice cars and ugly cars for every country. I'm sure this has been discussed on this forum before (I think everything has been hashed and rehashed on this forum at least 4 or 5 times, 1,000 pages of posts only supports that) I like the new Kia luxury car that looks like a BMW, I envy people who have those. There are other nice cars in Korea, too, but I notice how they don't seem to last very long. I saw a relatively new model Equus the other day that looked rough and sounded worse and I thought 'sheesh who lets a car like that fall to pieces?', so I wondered if it was the owner or shoddy craftsmanship. |

Two korean cars out of how many hundred different models they make?
Pretty good I'd say...and I am not a fan of anything korean! But they...korean made items....are getting better. The big problem is...korean men screw up everything! Let the women rule! |

Even the commentators dish the Korean team in the World cup - bringing up Greece, putting down Korea during the game - saying that Korea won't have a chance ...tch. ... Many times people elsewhere put down what they don't know about - many people in the West think Korea is still a country of farmers and dirt roads.
Funny in NZ, all the sponsors for the ads and sports are KIA and Hyundai. But Hyundai is pronounced wrongly all the time by the commentators. |

That's Hyundai's fault. If they spelled it in even a slightly phonetic way, it wouldn't be so hard to pronounce. Before I heard someone say Hyundai correctly, I assumed it was pronounced 휸다이. Kia is spelled phonetically, so is Daewoo. |

How does the ai in the word dainty sound? or maid? or aid? or laid?
But right, its the Korean's fault. |

Korean cars improve noticeably every time they do a model revamp.........I'm pretty sure Hyundai/Kia will overtake Toyota at some time in the future.
how some British guys can slag off Korean cars when some of the worst made cars in the history of the industry came from British brands when they still had an industry.
British Leyland, Austin and Morris have made some of the worst cars to ever roll-off any production line anywhere.
Although it's true that Britains luxury car industry was one of the best ever.
The Korean manufacturers are giving people exactly what they want in 2010.......affordability, reliability and great warranties...... |

Oh and how does the Corolla make it on the list? I can see the Rio and whatnot, but the Corolla?
I know Top Gear is for a bunch of guys who are nuts about 'performance', but come on...
A real car guy appreciates good engineering over performance. Corollas get great gas mileage, had a good reputation for reliability, were affordable, had low insurance costs, were fairly easy to work on, and were surprisingly quiet for such a small cheap car.
And lets not forge, lets NOT FORGET, the goold ole GT-S, cheap rear-drive fun. |
