ok so im in the market to buy a point and shoot digital camera. i had a casio b4 and the pic quality was really bad. ive been eyeing the samsung vluu wb550 and wb1000. been also eyeing the nikon coolpix s series. when it comes to cameras im totally clueless can anyone give me some advice on what to buy. thanks

Samsung lenses are not highly regarded. Some of their models have imported lenses... which are better.

GF recently bought a Samsung and the picture quality isn't great. THis isn't much help but at least an idea of what to staty away from!

Even Koreans say that Samsung cameras are the best of junk. Worst of the worst. King Turd in the bowl. Fart from the egg.

What is your budget? 80? 300?

Go to HiMart or Digital ETland for a decent price on a camera. When the price is too good to be true, it was probably made in Vietnam. If you go to Yongsan, its as though you are being asking to be ripped off.

im looking to spend around 250-300 the samsungs ive been looking at uses a different lens called schnieder? dont know if thats good or not. wat about nikons? anyone know if they are any good? i know that the really expensive nikons are famous but what about the point and shoot ones?

Generally Canon is the better choice for point and shoots.

Nikon P&S's are horrible.
Sony is hit or miss and pricier in general.
Samsung, Olympus, etc have a few good models here and there but you need to do your research.

My recommendations are:
Panasonic LX3
Canon S90
Ricoh GX

Though in your price range, I'd just go with whatever Canon P&S fits that price category.
