I just read this article today in the Korea Times:
http://times.hankooki.com/lpage/200404/kt2004040816124310160.htm
It said that the gov't wants to fingerprint and iris scan foreigners coming in and going out of the country. This is meant to screen out the terror element and prevent them from entering Korea.
But look at it from this point of view:
So this could mean if you pull a midnight run, they MIGHT deny you entry again if you plan to come back to Korea.
Or what if you're doing privates and you have a 6-month or a 3-month visa and keep coming back and forth into the country, they have an in-depth record of how many times you enter and leave.
What's your spin on the article? |

that people who get caught doing privates know the risk, that's part of the reason that the money is good and if they get caught for doing illegals its their own stupid fault |

These new measures would only affect people who have fake passports, false identities, etc. As long as you write your real name on the departure and arrival cards, and your passport is real, these changes would not effect you. |

Most countries are moving towards this way of identifying people.
Biometric identification is the next step in security.
I'm for it. I think it decreases the chance of illegal movement. |

Fault:yes. Stupid:not necessarily. If you walk out of here after a few years knowing that you have pcketed an extra 20 million won, then I doubt you will feel that you have been "stupid". It's the chance you take. |

Hear Hear!! ZED Exactly what I was thinking...why do anti private commies always attribute good cash with stupidity. The opposite is the case. Jelousy? Not having the balls or know how?
..Its not proposed untill 2007 and will be optional if you require speedy service.

As if you would tell them you are going to run away. |

If you have an E-2 visa you may be one of the lucky ones who is picked at random, taken into an office and told to wait as they telephone your hogwon to see if you are really going on vacation.
It never happened to me, but I know of a few people who were picked; they were not pulling a run. |

I imagine if they knew it would delay you only because of the immediate hassle, but what is immigration going to do to you?
"I'm sorry sir, but you aren't allowed to break a contract. I'm afraid we are going to have to take you back to your hagwon and force you to work until your year is finished."
Yeah right!! |

That seriously happens, i think they are pulling your leg. I've never heard about it once and I've lived here a while and known at least 100 people to come in and out.
what business is it of immigrations anyway if you leave the country and haven't done anything illegal.
They can't hold you because you are going back to your home country and haven't finished your contract. What a croc of bulldung. |

You mean you haven't been printed? I sure was when I first came to korea, also had details of my height and eye color taken down at Omokgyo.
And as some other posters have pointed out to you, whoopdishit. |
