I don't know about you dudes, but in my town when a teacher leaves they often email all the others and try to sell their crap.
I can understand selling a car/bike, and big ticket stuff, but I've seen some ridiculous stuff.
One dude had pictures of his stuff. There was a picture of a few bars of soap, and priced like $2.
I wonder if you've received these ridiculous emails, and what's the worst thing you've seen somebody try to sell? |

I totally agree with you. Just give the stuff away. Selling used towels and forks (seen it), or even low-end electronics that you can't use back home? C'mon. Just give it away.
Btw, OP, love the quote by Tom Sizemore's character from "Heat". That movie is full of classic lines. And of course, the BEST bank robbery scene ever. |

Couldn't agree more!! While I haven't dealt with Emails, I notice people filling up Buy/Sell forums or craigslist adds witch ridiculous things like toothpaste, salt and pepper, used clothes, and the worst on was a costco bag for 2,000! Couldn't believe it.
TV's, couches, tables, dressers, fridges, washing machines, computers and other electronic accessories are what these venues are meant for; don't waste everyone's time.
I find it more disturbing when people are tight-wads and try to sell meaningless stuff to friends. Just offer em up. Dont try and sell your ice tray to a guy you've been hanging out and/or working with with for the last year. Just plain rude. Take the staple outta your wallet and let it go. |

Agreed! My friends can have their pick of my stuff when I go. I may sell whatever appliances are left, but come on. Toothpaste?! |

| I agree, just give that stuff away. This site used to be decent several years ago for selling actual things of value, but I don't bother posting things here so much anymore due to the sabotagers and the cheapskates that abound here. |

It sounds like an oriental thing. I knew a guy who worked for photography studio owned by a chinese guy. He said the owner was trying to sell empty milk containers and other empty product containers at his studio.
Come on how much cash are you really going to make with this kind of selling?
Also look at the Chinese shops in the USA that place a $400 dollar indemnity on people they catch shop lifting. Pay it or we call the cops. That's after they walk them through the isles humiliating them. Come on I mean should the little old chinese lady who they catch stealing a package of dried fish be treated that way? They extort there own people. Assuming that most people that shop and shop lift at the stores are Chinese.
Then there's Singapore and Malaysia, but that's a little off the topic. |

It's a sign of the times. Economic downturns turn people into real penny pinchers and junk sellers. Depression era people were very tight and seen more value in common small things than they were actually worth. I remember so vividly as a kid how those old people having yard sales were about it. You could pick up antique metal ice trays for a buck.
When I leave, I too will have some used ice trays to sell as well. Nice white plastic uncrackable extra small ice trays for someone who has the worlds smallest freezer in these lean times. Save for a buck. |

Economic downturn? Not in SK. The economy is expected to grow 5.9% this year. Everyone on this site probably has a job, and should have no problem saving or traveling/spending freely.
There's a big difference between saving for a buck and just being plain out absurd and cheap. Give that stuff away or donate it. Good luck selling your ice trays and condiments. |

The solution is to take some laxative, and that toilet paper should be used up in no time. |

Don't throw out your toaster ovens or cast iron frying pans people! I will be looking for some in a month.
I personally like when people sell their books for cheap. It's hard to get some types of English books in Korea.
What I don't like is when people sell them for $10. Especially something by Dickens or Homer which would be available for free in the public domain. So what if you bought it for $15? It's not worth much anymore.
If somebody was selling something 10 stations away on a different line for $5 but it was a book available for delivery new, I would just get the new one. It's not worth an hour long trip there and back to save a few bucks. |

| I left behind a panel heater, ceramic heater and a heavy blanket, almost 200 hundred dollars worth of stuff. Sorry but I have better things to do, I'm not a merchant of used goods. The only thing is I hope the new native teacher didn't peddle the stuff off. Maybe the school sold it off. |
