|
|
Is there any way to install Korean internet explorer or get the English version of IE to actually display Korean characters? I have Korean IME and the language packs installed. I can read and enter hangul into most webpages, but for activex nonsense and popups for banking/school websites, I can't display Korean characters.
Here is what I've done so far:
*Installed East Asian Language pack
*Set up Korean IME
*Installed the various activex software for the sites I want to use
*Selected view, encoding, Korean in IE
*Added Korean to the languages under the options in IE
What on Earth is missing? |

It's in slightly different places in some versions of Windows, but basically you need to go to Regional/Language settings, Advanced, and change your language/system locale for non-Unicode programs to Korean.
This can have unintended consequences since some apps use this setting to automatically determine their install language, but usually you can work around this, and at least you can read all the wonderful popups, plug-ins, etc. to get your business done. |

Cool, thanks. I'll give that a shot once I dig up my xp disc. |

You don't need the disc. |

| hmm, this worked halfway. Some of the information I'm trying to read is legible now, but not the important information. I think it's because the information I'm trying to read is displayed in some pop-up excel format. I'll fiddle around with my office settings for a bit, but I think I'll just try a pc bang tomorrow. |
