I would recommend this site

http://www.truly-free.org/

He has an impressive collection of both fiction and non-fiction. You are allowed to download (borrow) 5 books from his library every two weeks. They come in various formats, but quite easy to convert to whatever format you want with Stanza.
If you make a donation of varying amounts you can download greater numbers at a time, or his entire collection. Worth a look.
Just be warned, if you try to go over the 5 book limit he will ban you.

I like http://elbitz.net/login.php for e-books

BUT
REGISTRATIONS ARE CLOSED

Important - please read: Registrations are currently closed. Next June 15th

Their collection is VERY extensive (beyond the 1001 kungfu/weightloss/computer/how to con a woman books) broken down by category and usually pretty fast.

Wait for their next registration date and take advantage of it.

follow the directions for searching and downloading.

maybe 100,000 titles for downloading in many different categories.

What is happening then?

The only big time book I am anticipating (I have never looked forward to the release of a book before), is Mark Twain's autobiography. But I'm fairly sure that will be coming out later in the year. Besides, I will be buying that in dead tree format.

Not a torrent site, but it's better than any I've found. Without question.

Registrations are open. Take a look

Thanks for all the replies. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I am looking for a few books and none of these sites or any others I have tried have them.

2nd

This is a great site, but be sure to register. I don't think you can do a proper search if you aren't logged in.
