Hi there
Another CRC question sorry
I was just wondering how many years back the CRC needs to go. I am a New Zealander but I have been living in the UK for the last 5 and a bit years. Prior to the UK I was in South Korea, and prior to that I was in NZ. I've sent off my application for my CRC here in the UK, but just wondering if I should be getting one from NZ as well, or will the last 6 years be sufficient (I'm assuming they can look into my record for my time in Korea)?
Many thanks

If you're applying with a NZ passport, they only care about your NZ CRC. They don't need (or want) the CRC from any other country. |

Thanks Troglodyte. I'm actually applying on my UK passport so does that mean the UK CRC is all I need then? |

Correct. IF you are applying and using your UK passport then you only need to obtain the UK CRC.

Maybe. Were you born in the UK? Where did you graduate?
If you were born in NZ and did uni in NZ then try not to make it obvious to the guys at the consulate. In the USA, some K consulates ask applicants for a CRC from every state that they've lived in (usually "born in" and "living in now" because those 2 are obvious). If they know that you weren't born in the UK, they might ask for a NZ CRC. If you're living in the UK now, you ARE better off applying with your UK passport because otherwise they may require that you go back to NZ for the interview at the consulate. If you can get a CRC from NZ it might be worth starting that process now, just in case. |

I got mine from New Zealand and just a word of warning it can take up to two/three weeks to get it processed, plus the time it takes to post it out.
One way around this is to fax off the application and then ring them to get it fast tracked.
If you're nice to them and they understand your position (I was in Mexico and wanted to leave ASAP) you can get it a lot sooner. I had mine processed and apostilled and it was sent in the post two days later. |

When I applied for EPIK they wanted one from every place I lived 6 months or more. I suppose I could have gotten around that by lying, but I felt safer just getting the second CRC. |
