Hey everybody
I'm just looking for some good old, evil sounding music to accompany me on my late night/early morning runs. Some old fashioned devil metal or the likes would be fine. All suggestions are welcome.
Thanks and peach out, yo

You mean evil sounding? Here ya go:
Taake - any of the first three albums will do
Darkthrone - Under A Funeral Moon
Gorgoroth - Under The Sign Of Hell
Ulver - Nattens Madrigal
Bathory - The Return...
Satanic Warmaster - Carelian Satanist Madness
Beherit - Drawing Down The Moon
Impaled Nazarene - Tol Cormpt Norz Norz Norz
Rotting Christ - Thy Mighty Contract
Varathron - His Majesty At The Swamp
Sarcofago - INRI
The Axis Of Perdition - Deleted Scenes From The Transition Hospital
Sodom - Under The Sign Of Evil
Burzum - Hvis Lyset Tar Oss
Possessed - The Seven Churches
I could do this all night, anything evil-sounding in specific? You want something doomy, fast, atmospheric? |

Evil sounding...thanks, I fixed that. Lemme give those a listen after I get back then I'll try to nail something a little more along the lines of what I'm looking for.
Right now I have an MP3 mix of Exodus, Death Angel, Prong, Slayer, Testament and Anthrax as well as a funk and reggae mix. But I need something a little darker for the 2am/3am runs that I've been doing lately. |

Ah, okay, you like thrash metal, good good. Try out:
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Kreator - Pleasure To Kill
Morbid Saint - Spectrum Of Death
Sadus - Illusions (Chemical Exposure)
Sodom - Agent Orange
It's all old-school thrash in the vein of what you're listening to now, just a bit faster and more aggressive. |

I mentioned The Axis Of Perdition, they're a Brit band inspired primarily by the Silent Hill games, mixing that atmosphere with hard industrial and black metal:

And while it's not my forte, it's best listened to with headphones while goofed on good South African weed such as rooibaard or Durban poison.
From what I gather though, the OP wants something more in the vein of metal without too much atmosphere (early Darkthrone as opposed to Blut aus Nord for example) as it is to be workout music. |

Okay, so far so good.
How did Sesame Street's Cookie Monster ever become such an inspiration for death metal vocalists? |

In my first post there was only one death metal band, if that as they are pioneers of the scene, Possessed - the rest are black metal (if you count early Sodom as black metal that is). |

Oh yeah...feels like my favorite lazy-boy recliner. Never heard of Morbid Saint before. Awesome. |

Yeah that Morbid Saint album is sick thrash - considered a classic for good reason.
That first Sadus album that I mentioned is a fave of mine too - when Steve DiGiorgio does that insane bass solo during the fourth song, now that's metal my friend!
Canada's Razor is pretty good as well, as is Switzerland's Coroner, if you like tech-thrash.
I've been listening to metal for ages, can recommend everything from speed to folk to viking to Canadian skinhead war metal - just ask if you want more recommendations, happy to help someone else discover this awesome (and the best of) music. |

There's a good old-school aggressive thrash band from Texas called Morbid Scream, Proscriptor from Absu released their demos on his label, worth checking out too for sure, should be available on torrent sites. |

Not particularly evil-sounding and rather tame compared with some people's picks, but I'd say 'Maiden's The Number of the Beast. |

Not really evil though, you could've picked Seventh Son... or Powerslave for a better album.
Their new album should be out now, only heard El Dorado off it, it's okay, some like it, some don't, it's power metal-ish I suppose, bass could be more galloping...
