definitely to each their own.

just like how people spend money on expensive cellphones. i like to spend money on fashion and accessories. i think it's very normal that i like luxury brand sunglasses...that's exactly what went through my head.

You make a good point. Expensive cell phones are certainly frivolous and wasteful as well.

At any rate...I am sure that there are a few more Paris Hilton wannabes floating around the ROK who will be dying to buy your overpriced eye protection.

i think your comment is ignorant and rude...just because one enjoys luxury brands, it doesn't mean they are "paris hilton wannabes". just because you don't appreciate high-end fashion, you shouldn't insult it like you know its worth. there are many sorts of other expensive hobbies and interests out there...does that mean everyone is wasteful?

also there's billions of 10,000 won knock off glasses all over the ROK, you and i just have difference of opinion in what's good craftsmanship.

Any publicity is good publicity. You should be grateful that I am keeping your thread at the top of the list. The increased exposure should increase the likelihood that you make your sale.

Feel free to make snide comment about any of the items I have for sale...my large-size socks perhaps? Surely you can come up with something, no?

Actually yes...it does. There is a big difference between buying quality and wasting money on a name.

I know that 2 pairs of sunglasses are hardly worth $800.

Perhaps...but the existence of someone else doing something doesn't cancel out the first action.

Where did I endorse the purchase of knock-off sunglasses? I would never endorse knock-offs as they are damaging for your eyes. There is a lot of middle ground between 10 dollar fakies and 400 hundred dollars for a couple dozen rhinestones and a name. You can get a very nice pair of sunglasses for $100-$150, built with the highest level of craftsmanship.

Next you're going to tell me that there is a plethora of good reasons why someone would pay $500 for a handbag.

yes...i can justify that too. however, i won't waste my time because the last time i checked, this was a thread to buy and sell. i'm not sure why you are trying to start some theoretical debate about materialism here...i'm sure there are some fun philosophy on-line chats out there for ya.

If you remember correctly, my initial inquiry was with regards to my curiosity surrounding what went through your mind when you surrendered nearly a grand of your hard earned money for 2 pairs of shaded spectacles.

There is no debate to be had...clearly if you valued these sunglasses at the rate you claim to, then you wouldn't be selling them for hundreds less than what you paid...unless of course, perhaps you overextended yourself financially by shopping at stores meant for those with 6-figure incomes and not the middle class. There is certainly a price to pay, both financially and otherwise, when attempting to appear to be something one is not.

I can see that you are indeed not one to waste your time, as you didn't waste the millisecond required, not even once, to depress the [shift] key and produce a capital letter.

However, if you do choose to change your mind, and waste just 1 more minute of your precious day, please do fill me in on the usefulness of the elusive $500 handbag. Hopefully you've got more to your argument than providing a storage receptacle for my $400 sunglasses.

Hey Air76,

What do you care what someone spends on whatever they wish to with their own money?

I WAS in a hurry actually. Some people have things to do, people to meet, places to go, other than to go back and forth with you to answer your inquiries about my personal spending choices.

SERIOUSLY.
I was only trying to sell on a selling forum...shouldn't the moderators filter out the people who aren't using this thread properly. haha this was ridiculous.

What's clear is that you don't understand fashion and one's interest in fashion pieces. I buy and sell because fashion is continuously updating and changing. Hence why there's such a huge market out there for pricey items..it's to get something that is more exclusive. I'm tired of repeating.

Did you ever take into consideration the possibility that I am genuinely concerned for Kage's financial well-being?

I don't "care" what a complete stranger does with her money....I was just blown away that someone was admitting in public that they'd paid just a ludicrous amount for a pair of sunglasses, and not just once, but twice.

Mack...there is nothing anti-capitalist in suggesting that buying $400 sunglasses is preposterous. The fact that a demand exists for something doesn't mean that this demand is not idiotic....there is a demand for $10,000 diamond rings, that doesn't mean it isn't stupid and pointless to buy one.

So are you saying that these "fashion pieces" you're selling are now out of style?

Of course I don't understand fashion...nobody does. Fashion is a tool, similar to nationalism, used to make people believe that $20 is a reasonable price to pay for a pair of socks or that a plain white tank-top from a department store is worth triple the same plain white tank-top from Target.

A simpler approach would have been to just ignore me...which is what I assumed you would do from the get-go...the fact that you're getting defensive only shows that you do realize the inefficiencies in spending such a disproportionate percentage of your income on eye wear.

At any rate....here in Korea it is by far the minority who think as I do as most of the Koreans whole-heartedly back the concept of paying extra to let other people know that you paid extra. With luck you're still young and will wise up to these spending habits before it's too late.

I agree that the MODS are going to bark at me here...so I will make this my last remark on the issue.

Good luck on your sale....like I said, there are more who think like you and less who think like me, so you will most certainly find a taker for your wares.

EDIT: I forgot to thank you for reverting back to using capital letters. I honestly do appreciate the gesture.

So you're concerned about her financial well-being BUT you don't care what a stranger does with her money?

Sorry, didn't know you guys knew each other.
