Do many of you have experience teaching one-2-one? What do Koreans who want to practice just "conversation" normally expect?

I would find it hard to hold a conversation with anyone for 2 hours straight.

Do you normally bring resources such as worksheets, assign homework, perform role-plays or do dictations, or note down grammatical/lexical errors for correction slots?

Tips and tricks? Stories of woe? Stories of wonder?

A two hour conversation with someone anything less than fluent is agony. Bring a deck of cards, play an easy game that doesn't require your full attention, and if they're of age, by all means booze!

1 to 1, 2 hours is too long. One hour is about the max.

For 1 student I find 40 minutes good. 2 students 1 hour.

Try to get the student to find a friend. It is lonely for both the student and teacher doing 1 to 1.

www.breakingnewsenglish.com is your friend. Timely, provocative topics with loads of vocab and other activities to keep you busy. Two hours goes by in a flash using this stuff.

i teach adults 1 to 1, sometimes i have 2 hour classes. it can be pretty long. try getting topic books at the book store. you can find books where they have a reading about a certain topic such as vacation, prejudices, culture, etc, and then following it, they have questions for discussions.

so what the class would be like would be.

10 mins of checking hw, which is a summary of what they've read
5-10 mins of reading the passage and asking for their thoughts as you clarify their ideas
5-10 mins of comprehension questions which comes with the books usually
30-40 mins of discussion questions and random talk

my personality is pretty inquisitive, so i tend to ask lots of questions. if it gets silent, just tell them to ask you questions. if you run out of material just bring more books. of course, you can spend some time just small talking about the weekend and stuff. hope this helps!
