|
|
I am leaving my current job on August 31st, I have a new job lined up for October 6th.
I want to just go to my home country and get a totally new visa.
My recruiter wants me to do a Visa transfer on August 31st, so I don't have to reapply in country.
I said that this will mean my visa expires before my contract with my new school. As the new visa will run from September 2010 to September 2011, not till October.
My recruiter said that this is not the case, that the Visa will run to the end of the contract with my next school. Everything I have read everywhere has said that an E2 is one year only!!
A transfer also requires me to collect details from my current school, such as a release letter, and the administration is less than helpful, so it would be mega stress trying to get all the stuff they need. (Especially a release letter, to be released from a contract I want to finish!?WTF?)
It is actually easier for me to collect the documents for a new visa.
My recruiter however is trying to push a Visa transfer on me.....is it cheaper for them to do that? What is the reason?
Does anyone have any suggestions how I can insist on getting a new Visa.
Thanks!! |

Yes, you're right. An E2 visa is for one year only, so it will expire before the end of your contract.
However, it's very easy to get an extension. You'd just need to call into Immigration next September, fill out a form, hand over some paperwork, and get your ARC back with the new date written on the back. Much easier than getting all your paperwork together now, I think.
Your recruiter is probably trying to push this because it's less hassle.
I'm 90% sure this is all true.
Anyone, please correct me if I'm wrong. |

Thanks so much,
My paperwork is all ready at the moment. So that is no extra work to me. I also can't take time off work to go to immigration and I leave Korea the day my Visa expires!
I just really want to get a new visa, and have everything in order. I really don't want to have to extend my Visa again next year! |

I think it's because it will save the schools money by nothing having to provide flight tickets. The recruiter will possibly be making more money by saving money for the schools.
If you want to go back home just go. |
