So I got paid my salary on my last day of work which was a Friday. My plane leaves on Monday and I would like to transfer almost all my money home. The problem is that the banks are closed on weekends, and so that's not possible.

My backup plan was to withdraw it all, but it seems I have a limit on my account.

Withdrawing the limit today, tomorrow, and the day of my flight will give me a decent but it wouldn't be enough to pay my student debt and have living money for when I'm back in Canada.

My hope now is that while I'm in Canada I'll be able to access this money. It wouldn't be very difficult, I imagine, if internet banking wasn't such a hassle but I don't even have that set up.

Any ideas, or information I could use?

Could I do that at an airport bank when I'm not a member with their bank? My bank is Nong Hyup and I see that they don't have a branch at the airport.

I have a similar issue. A friend just told me KEB is the most flexible and will allow some internet banking and stuff. I didn't know this originally. I have KB.

I was also told that there *is* a limit as to the amount you can withdraw in one day. I've been told there's a 5,000,000 won per day limit (and usually 1,000,000 for cash at ATMs). Is this true? Or is this bogus information? I think the ATM part is true at least. Dunno, I've never withdrawn that much money at once here.

(For the record my friend that told me the KEB info in the first paragraph was not the same source as the info for the 2nd paragraph. He's probably much more reliable.) Anyway maybe someone can confirm this. I'd try KEB in the future...

Nope, can't do it while in the States. I had a friend who needed to transfer money to my account online and then I wired it to her home account.

So it makes sense to wire money home ahead of time such as 1 month before leaving and then carry up to $10,000 so you aren't trying to withdraw 15 to 20 million won on your last day or whatever large nest egg you've accumulated. If nearly all of it is withdrawn ahead of time, then you are only needing to withdraw your final paycheck on your last day which is probably about 4 to 5 million.

i've sent money home with KEB online banking several times. its needs to be setup of course first. once thats done. its really easy to do. you can also withdraw money from you KEB card in other countries as well. so you could do that too.

I think at KB you can get up to 1,000,000 cash at an ATM and 6,000,000 in some kind of check form. Then in person there's no limit that I know of (just took everything I had in, out recently.) So I've been finding this out in person lately...
