i am going to admit i don't read this site very often, but i am wondering if it happens very often that teachers here have to sit like dummies at their desks all day with absolutely no teaching to do. usually due to exams or something.
yeesh, it's painful. |

yep. i'm just puttering on the internet trying not to feel like i am totally wasting my time.
i just don't understand it. i was hired as a teacher, not a benchwarmer.
it's just frustrating, that's all.
i suppose it could be worse. i could be digging ditches somewhere. |

Even in the US (wherever you're from) there are times when there is nothing to do. Just think of it as a working vacation. |

Just be happy to have a break and not "Oh you don't have classes so go clean something." |

Happened to one and all.
The more low on camps you are during the summer the more desk time you will have. |

Unless you're in good with your school and they let you not show up for work. |

Let's not post or read about fortunate situations, shall we? Recent history has shown that there are more than a few who lack the maturity and wisdom not to complain to their principal when reading more favourable jobs re summer holidays |

I kinda think of it as a blessing in disguise. My school made me sit for the three weeks of summer that I didn't book off as vacation during my first year. Took that time to make a website. Sure, it'd be better if I could go home, but I probably would have just played video games or slept. |

I saw the thread about napping at school... is that common even in hagwons? I mean, usually here napping is looked down upon (unless you're 3) but a good power nap would be great especially in the summer months. |

Just go out for long periods of time and your day will go by quicker. If they start complaining about that, just smile, say you're sorry, ignore them and keep on keeping on. |

I'm pretty sure that's a great way to piss off your boss. A long lunch would be ideal, especially if you live nearby. |

If only. I get brief 3-5 minute breaks between each class, most of the time I have to spend printing stuff off or whatever, all the way until I go home, not even a 'lunch' break... whatever that is. |

Best solution: use the time you have.
Take a class, order some books about teaching, research lesson planning....the list is endless. |
