I'm thinking about flying to Seoul with a one way ticket and looking for a job, while I wait for my documents.
Is a one way ticket acceptable or will they not let me in without a return ticket? |

You face several problems not the least of which is not being allowed to board your flight without proof of onward or return passage. (A requirement of no-visa / visa waiver travel and often enforced by the airlines - they get the fine for carrying you if you don't have it.)
If it is your first E2 you still need to deal with the consular interview in your home country. (return home just for an interview seems a bit expensive).
Getting an apostille for your documents can only be accomplished in your home country although there are expensive alternatives you can do if you are here.
Unless you have connections or speak Korean you will still need to use a recruiter so most of the problems will still exist.

Thanks for that.
So I could just buy a ticket to Osaka and then cancel it when I arrived, true?
This would be my second year in Korea, I'm bored out of my mind so would like to return while I wait for my crc check(which takes forever in Virginia). I could get someone in my family to get it apostilled fairly easily.
Should I just tell recruiters my situation and see if they can find me appropriate jobs? |

Also if you are sign a contract while you are in Korea, you do not get refunded for your plane ticket. |

It's kinda hit or miss. I went home between contracts in January on a return ticket (with Incheon being my final destination). My new school was unable to get my visa squared away before my return, so I left Chicago and arrived in Incheon without a visa.
The only time the subject was brought up was at ICN immigration. The girl asked about my not having a visa, and I simply told her I would be doing a visa run to Japan in a few weeks. She didn't ask for any proof of this (and I didn't have any).
I know a few other people who have gone through the same thing with the same results. Others haven't been so lucky. |
