Just got in a light 15 mins.
How much time do you spend napping at school/work?
I get about 45 mins a week in. I probably get paid about 80,000won a month to sleep! I really want to quit this job because the students and I hate each other, but the rest of the time, outside the classroom, it is ace. |

At my current job: NONE.
At my last job, I had at least 2-3 hours a week of nappy time, especially in the winter when it was nice to sleep in the school's infirmary.
I remember back in 2000 I was paid full time for PT hours. In the afternoon I had no classes. I'd go into the infirmary to nap and it would be full of Korean teachers!
I wish I had a big couch in my classroom...I'd sleep every lunch period |

Some days it's just got to be done. I only do about one a fortnight though.
In my first job at a kindy hakwon I used to sneak into the ball pit and have 20 mins most afternoons |

My school has an apartment on the first floor for the night guard. He only uses it from the evening until the early morning, so it is free for the time I'm there. It's well-stocked with a fully loaded kitchen, shower, table, chairs, futon, pillows, blankets, air conditioning, fan, stereo, TV. My principal called me down one day and showed me the room/apartment and said that I could use it anytime I want to have a nap or take a shower. I use it 2 or 3 times a week for a good and peaceful snooze. I lay the futon out, pillow, put on a few tunes and drift away. Now that's what I call a good principal! |

I keep an inflatable pillow under my desk. When I have the time and feel the need, I line up a few desks, and have a little kip, usually with some BBC radio 4/ or 7 comedy playing quietly over the speakers. Make sure you switch off the lights and lock the door. |

I live in one of the teacher apartments that are next to the school. On a day when I have an early lunch and no class right after lunch, I'll go home and take a nap, sometimes for an hour or longer. I'd say in a given week, I'll nap for 1-2 hours total.
I've also gone home to drop the kids off at the pool and fix myself a snack if lunch sucked that day... |

Funny, I just woke up from a two-hour nap. Usually I don't do that but I didn't get much sleep last night (well, 6 hours, which is not much by my standards). I have my own classroom isolated away on the top floor that nobody goes to. And two couches push together to create a giant bed. Bliss. |

Great thread Senior!
When I taught elementary and was chained to my desk from 3pm-5pm I did spend my second year there napping for 45 minutes every day that year. My co-t was doing the same thing in his class next to me. I'm not chained to my desk anymore so and I haven't had a nap at work in a very long time. |

Nothing wrong with a power nap.
Especially when you have a full teaching schedule. |

I am not the most productive NET to ever grace the peninsula, but I don't quite have the balls to sleep at my desk.
I'll stick with youtube videos. |

I just made myself a little desk fort in a classroom on the third floor away from everyone. Sleeping on the floor isn't too great, but I get about 2 hours a week up here! Locked doors and turned off lights = awesome! |

A 15 min nap is probably worth an hour of gained productivity. There are studies that prove me right. But I'm too lazy to use Google to find them. |

my first ps I had a couch; classroom was on the 5th floor, just tree tops outside, rustling in the wind, cross ventilation, never hot. took naps nearly every afternoon, then scurried off to a night time hakwon spot. was quite peaceful |
