|
|
Mine is 4 with an elementary school under SMOE. I SWEAR Jon Pak said we were required only to teach 3...
Of course, the teacher in charge of planning the camp said she's just going to go with what the contract says (nothing) and plan however she wants.
How long is yours?
(My secret goal of this thread is to find out whether I actually am getting screwed or not)
I don't want to hear anything like, "It's only a week!" or other crap like that. That extra week I have away from teaching would be pretty re-energizing. A lot of teacher's at my school complain we're overworked. If we had even a week of extra time to decompress, I think it'd do everyone wonders. |

Nine days. Does that fall into the "other crap like that" category? |

Two days
My coteacher doesn't want to do a long camp, so that she can have more vacation time. We use the entire budget for those 2 days and the kids have a GREAT time! Last time, we rented ovens and made cookies (with the instructions in English), amongst other fun activities. I'm looking forward to it! |

Do you wanna trade?
The person in charge of coordinating my summer camp pretty much only cares about making herself look good to higher-ups. She's interested in becoming a big-wig one day and acts accordingly. It doesn't matter that all the other teachers dislike these long camps 'cause it's all about her.
You're lucky NYC_Gal! |

It may be "other crap," however, as you forgot to mention the length of time you will be teaching your summer camp, (4weeks, 4days, 4 hours) I assumed the camp to be four weeks. After all, who would complain about teaching for four days? |

Not SMOE, Gepik, nor EPIK. 2 weeks. 1 hour of physical fitness or games like basketball and 3 hours of the same subject where we rotate groups through several classrooms and be finished at lunch time. We have a field trip of some sort on the last day with the same students for the 2 weeks. I'm hoping for 15 student groups instead of noisy chaotic 30 to 40 student groups. No info on age yet, but would expect each group to be a different age group. And then we can take 2 weeks off which I'm looking forward to. |

Oh, my apologies to you. Four weeks is a rough ride. I also don't work for SMOE. I did work for GEPIK, and it was two weeks. I'm sorry to hear of your situation. |

Oh yeah, forgot to add--the entire 4 weeks I will be teaching WITHOUT a co-teacher.
I will be teaching 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, AND 6th grades.
5 hours a day, 5 days a week, 4 weeks.
Anyone surprised I'm ECSTATIC this is the last year the woman who designed this hellish camp will be at my school? |

I taught the last camp alone with 1 class of 20 tech kids at 5 different levels for 3 hours. ALONE.
Think of the bright side at least you've got variety. |
