|
|
Hello all, I'm selling a genuine "Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plain Top Electric Guitar" in Heritage Cherry Burst finish.
It is in "like new" condition. I am the first owner and bought it brand new. It looks BEAUTIFUL and sounds very rich and nice.
I am selling it because I bought it to learn how to play guitar, but pretty much lost my motivation. I've picked it up maybe 10 times since I bought it, and since then it has been sitting in a guitar case in my loft for months now. I doubt I will ever get around to playing it again, so I might as well trade it in for cash, which I KNOW I will use
PRICE COMPARISON:
For an accurate price comparison, here is what this guitar is selling for on various Korean web sites:
Auction.co.kr: 750,000won
Gmarket.com: 660,000won

Here is what it is selling for in U.S. dollars on American web sites (exchange rate conversion as of 7/30/2010, 1185KRW/1USD):
Sweetwater.com: $649.00 (769,000won)

Music123.com: $479.00 (567,000won)
ASKING PRICE AND CONTACT INFO:
My asking price for the guitar is much cheaper than what you can find retail: 420,000won, since it is technically a used guitar. But it is basically in "like new" condition. Again, my asking price is:
420,000won
Note: There are no accessories included with this guitar at this price, except for the truss rod. I may include the case and strap, if you ask nicely
Feel free to make me an offer, but please note that I'm not in a hurry to sell it, as it will not really depreciate in value. No lowball offers please -- if I don't like your offer I may not respond at all, no offense intended! You can email me at:

This Epiphone guitar is a close replica of the high-end Gibson Les Paul that famous guitarist Slash plays in the famous "Sweet Child o' Mine" by Guns N' Roses:

The only modification I made was I stuck a little black low-profile pick case on the front near the pickup switch.
ISSUES:
Apparently this is a common issue with this guitar, but as mentioned in the Music123.com review (see below), this guitar has a slight buzzing of the low E string on the first few frets, but like W Wong said, it doesn't effect the sound when plugged into an amp, so it's not really noticeable when playing. According to another Les Paul Standard owner who fixed the problem, all you have to do is adjust the truss rod, but as a beginner I'd rather not mess with that. I'm sure experienced players can do it themselves, or any guitar shop can easily do it for you. I will include the truss rod adjuster with the guitar.
LOCATION:
I live in Seoul near the Dangsan area (straight across the river from Hongdae). I can meet you pretty much anywhere in the major Seoul area if you are a serious buyer. I prefer not to ship the item.
REVIEWS:
Here are a number of reviews of this particular Epiphone Les Paul Standard guitar:
GuitarCenter.com (5 out of 5 stars - Michael)
Amazing - Some people say epiphone guitars are not as good as gibsons... WRONG!!!!! This is my favorite guitar because it sounds just as good as a gibson... if not better!!! Also, it was a fraction of the price. This guitar sounds amazing! I tried this guitar out on many different amps and on each one, it was still amazing. Also it doesn't matter what style you play with it. From punk to metal, any style you play on this guitar will sound fantastic If you are in the market for a les paul, before trying out the gibsons, give epiphone a chance!
GuitarCenter.com (5 out of 5 stars - anonymous)
Just got it. LOVE IT! - After wanting a Les Paul for about fifteen years, I finally said "what the heck". I couldn't be happier. It is the most solid and smooth felling guitar I have ever owned. I'm an experienced player & own a couple of Strats, but this thing (even though it's "only an Epiphone")has the warmest tone, sweetest action, & the most stunning looks of all my guitars. As I said the overall feel is just amazing; as is the construction quality. The Epiphone Plain Top Les Paul is hands down the best guitar on the market in it's price range(and a few other price ranges). Perfect for all styles. Perfect for all experience levels. Totally recomend it.

GREAT GUITAR! for a very low cost - Beautiful! I got the heritage cherry and it looks way better than the picture on the site portrays it. really shiny and attracts alot more attention as compared to my black stratocaster. Incredible sound!, the pickups are great, it has alot better sustain then my strat. being an epiphone, it still delivers that thick, gritty, heavy metal sound you expect from a les paul.
SweetWater.com (5 out of 5 stars - Brandon Kapshandy from Anderson, SC)
WOW! WHAT A GUITAR!!!! - Music Background: Semi - Professional Musican. This is got to be one of the finest guitars I've ever laid my hands on! It sounds and feels just like a Gibson, as a matter of fact better than a Gibson because the electronics are dead silent on this guitar snd it's a 1/3 of the price! It came already perfectly set up, all I had to do is tune her up and lightly adjust the pickups and I was off ROCKIN'!!! I'm primarly a fender man, but now I'm going to broaden my horizons and include Epiphone too! The tone from this instrument was phenominal, full of that classic, chunky LP tone and tones of sustain. I'm glad I made this purchase.

If your not headlining the Garden ,why spend $2000 on a Gibson. The guitar feels solid , Stays in tune , And has great sustain. I have also enjoyed the neck... Great action. Again a good solid fell to it. I feel this guitar will last quite a few years. This item is a great value. The finish is what you would find on guitars costing upwards of $900. I owned one three years ago and I was impre$$ed with the quality/price ratio. I have been playing for 25 years and have owned every guitar from Fender strats to Ibanez Artists, and whatnot in between. I have honestly never owned a Gibson Les Paul but have played them. For the price this is a great product!!

I use a Vox AVT 50 for practice and a Marshall Valvestate for everything else. This guitar doesn't sound as good as I wanted it to through the Marshall, a touch brittle and muddy at the breakup point, but through the Vox, it consistently sounds as good as any stock Les Paul I've ever played sounds, Gibson or Epiphone. It's rich and full beyond what you paid, and it's as satisfying as 3/4ths of the Gibson Les Pauls you will play if you're honest with your ears. I've played many of both, and I have one standard Gibson Les Paul I use as a benchmark. This Epiphone Les Paul sounds good. I don't think that anyone would be under equipped with this Epiphone Les Paul. If a $2,000 Gibson Les Paul sounded like this, I wouldn't complain.
Amazon (5 out of 5 stars - IrishRocker23):
All of my favorite guitarists like Ace Frehley from KISS, Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin, and Slash from Guns and Roses play Les Pauls so when I went out to get an electric guitar I definately had my heart set on a Les Paul because I loved the sound so much. I went to a local guitar store and saw the rather soul crushing price of a Gibson Les Paul and then desided that an Epiphone would be more in my price range. I tried it out and loved it. It had the feel and sound of a Gibson but at a much more affordable price. I found that it fit my style of playing perfectly from its wonderful clean sound for folk to its awesome distorted sound for rock. If you are a fan of the aforementioned guitarists or guitar playing styles, this guitar is a must buy!
Music123 (5 out of 5 stars - W Wong)
Close as it gets to perfect. I was blown away, and the price was simply amazing. I've played for a month now and I maybe wrong, but from everything I've seen in the past month of playing with this guitar almost constantly, everyday, this guitar is sturdy, light weight (compared to other Les Pauls such as the Gibson), smooth look and feel(thinner neck, and lighter less dense wood), and sounds absolutely perfect, even for the stock pickups. I could complement this guitar all day, but I'll just cut to the con, the one and only problem I see with this guitar is a slight buzzing of the low E string on the first few frets, but this doesn't effect the sound from the amp, so it's fine, hardly noticeable when playing. Thats it, the only problem, if you wanna play folk, blues, hard rock, or metal, this guitar can do it all. Just to clear some of those wondering about the difference between Epiphone and Gibson Les Pauls, difference is manufacturing. They are very different, Gibsons a company in the US that is made for quality and not quantity, Epiphone is a company in Korea that made these in mass productions, for quantity, but this doesn't mean it's bad. Both are hand made by the way. For the much cheaper price, different wood, and different manufacturing, this guitar is worth the buy, I recommend it for anyone who wants the Gibson Les but cant afford it, 10 out of 10.

Help for other guy - i got a les paul a while ago and find it brilliant. i too had the problem of the buzzing, alls it is is the neck is too straight and so the strings catch the neck at the top. Alls you have to do is adjust the trust rod.
