I'm sure I've not got the wording in the title quite right, but it will take some explaning!
I just bought a new Vaio notebook from the UK with Win7 Home Premium already installed. The CD key of the install using 'Jelly Bean CD Key Finder' doesn't match the CD key on the sticker SO I thought I could download a Win7 ISO and then reinstall Win7 Ultimate using the CD Key on the sticker just like I did with Vista Home Premium to Ultimate on my old Asus notebook.
But Win7 is telling me the CD key isn't valid,so before I reinstall back to Home Premium Win7, anyway this so far 'unused/registered' CD key will work with Ultiamte or is that something Microsoft have clamped down on?
I thought the volume licensing style Windows stickers were 'free' windows in a way, or could I use the sticker CD Key on another notebook/desktop install perhaps?
Cheers! |
