Are there any web sites that show the regional buses around Chungju (i.e. to the villages nearby)?
I know that they have a bus terminal but I haven't been able to find out information on schedules or the phone number there. If anyone knows could you please post it.
In particular, I'm trying to plan a bus trip to Neungam-ri. |

Talk to the woman in the tourist information booth in the terminal. She is usually quite helpful. There is no English language schedule to my knowledge. There used to be a book with a vague bus listing as to how to get to the area's sights, but it wasn't in the information booth last time I went in.
I don't know where Neungam-ri is, but I can give the bus numbers for a few destinations for you:
Woraksan/Songgye Valley - bus #246 (in front of Lotte Mart by the taxi rank). The price is 3700 won.
Suanbo - any bus in the 240s. 1100 won.
Angseong - bus #265 (in front of the tous les jours near Lotte Mart). 1100 won. |

Thanks.
Neungam-ri is in Angseong-myeon, so your answer is just what I needed to know.
Do you happen to know about what time the buses stop running each day? Are there night buses from Angseong back to Chungju? In the villages, is the schedule usually posted at the bus stops?
Can you take bikes on the buses? (Some cities DO have a bike rack on the front of the buses.) Or are they the type that have luggage compartments beneath? |

Don't know when the buses stop running from Angseong. The information lady in the terminal can help you with that. As for bikes, I've never seen anybody take a bike on there (I ride the bus out to my country school a couple of times a week). It generally is either packed full of students (from 730-900am and from 330-530pm coming back) or has a handful of hardcore country adjummas/ajosshis. Worth a try I suppose. But them city bus drivers don't like to hang about waiting, so be warned!
Noeun is about 3-5km from Angseong. There are two mountains to hike in between the two (the road cuts between the mountains). Not much going on out there however.
And from the other thread - Angseong's spas are okay. There are a bunch of them on the road after you cross the expressway and turn right (about 30-40 minutes out of Chungju). |

If Angseong isn't that far from Chungju, do you think that it's feasible to just bike from Chungju? Or is the road too hilly? Too many cars (or not enough shoulder to rid on)?
I think that Neumgam-ri is the same place in Angseong mentioned (or at least shown in the photos) as on Galbijim.
