I'm having a hard day (must be the heat) and can't think right now. Could someone please let me know which of the following sentences are
correct? Thank you in advance.

1. Since I was a child, I was always interested in sports.

2. Since I have been a child, I was always interested in sports.

3. Since I have been a child, I have been interested in sports.

In my opinion, I think it would be:

"Since I was a child, I have always been interested in sports."

Thanks for your reply, and I agree that your sentence sounds great.

Do others agree that all three of my original sentences are wrong?

A: "which of the following sentences IS correct?"
B: "I have been interested in music since I was a kid."

"Since" always requires a perfect tense. It's not a matter of opinion or debate.

It very specific temporal cases it does, but certainly not always.

Since this is a matter of debate, I am sure others will disagree.

Right, obviously it doesn't signal any verb tense when it's used for causation. Not really a matter for debate, though.

Welcome back Cosmic Hum! Actually, I've been kind of hoping for your voice of reason on my who/whom question. Smile
