|
|
I currently own this laptop that I have owned for a little over a year.
http://www.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/app.html/params.file.tsv_559802,html/walk.html.%7Ctsvmetadrill,html
However I recently damaged it, and I have been quoted 650k to repair it. The repair shop has suggested that I should just buy a new one, but I can't find anything to match it for a similar price to the repairs.
I could pay up to 800k, but I doubt I will get anything better. So, any ideas as to whether I should repair it, or does anyone know of a good deal on a better laptop? I don't play games often, but I do play a few and would like the option. Other than that I download TV shows etc, and I will be using it for university in the near future.
Thanks for your input. |

| I was looking on Gmarket but it's quite a minefield. I always look at the ghz number to assess the processor but I don't think that is particularly helpful. I wondered about heading to Yongsan but I'm not enough of an expert not to get ripped off. |

Dont bother with Yongsan. Unless you do your homework, those guys will sell you a true lemon.
The tech stores (ET Land / Himart) can supply you with what you need within reason. |

I went to HiMart after work today and the prices were amazingly high. I will buy something from Gmarket, it just might take me a while to find the right one.
I don't seem to be hearing much support for repairing my old one... |

What kind of damage was it? Depending on what it is, it may still be fixable. I've worked in IT for the last 4 years if you need some help without someone (possibly) ripping you off. |

Take a look at a site like Amazon, where you can sort the laptops by things like "best rated" and then read the comments. You say that you are not a hard core gamer, so complaints from people that are shouldn't bother you, but you'll want to be looking out for things like good battery life, a biggish hard drive for storing movies and shows and something that's rugged enough to bring to class. Once you've narrowed down the field a little, gmarket might not be as intimidating. |

How exactly did you damage it?
If it is anything short of the AV power port or motherboard I can fix it for you for free. Just buy the parts.
