MSN will get increasingly slower and then every few minutes, a blank yellowish white pop up flashes for 1 split second only which speeds it up to real time for a few moments. The popup is obviously a small key logger program that's transmitting what you just typed in the past few minutes. I think that's a key-logging censorship in place triggered by certain key words of interest. If you use chat while at work, don't just say anything like I did blasting off how I felt Korea is unfriendly, Korea is only for Korean people, lying to itself thinking it can globalize, and such. It shouldn't be illegal to generalize like I did, but I'm sure criticism has no place here even though I'm criticized regularly. Best to not use Messenger to voice how bitterly disappointed I feel and then put this conservative Confucian experience behind me.

There appears to be censorship, but we haven't been told what is off limits to be talking so I thought it was OK to generalize on my experiences as long as I didn't slander an individual or company or specific agency, but apparently, it's not OK to generalize on your experiences, because that's when a key-logger self installed and become active. We have KnightGuard firewall which works. I can't even load either of those two English newspapers in Seoul.

Signs and symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia may include:

* Auditory hallucinations, such as hearing voices
* Delusions, such as believing a co-worker wants to poison you (or that Korea is spying on you via MSN messenger)
* Anxiety
* Anger
* Aloofness
* Violence
* Verbal confrontations
* Patronizing manner

Wow, that's really crafty of the government. I assume they've taken the same measures with the countless other 3rd party IM clients available.

Delusions of persecution? This dude has a new problem every week. From being accosted by adjushis co to teacher problems. I wouldn't give his problems to a monkey on a rock.

OK, most of you thought it was trollish of me to post this so you attacked the messenger instead of the message.

I'm serious. My computer has this going on. Just because your computer doesn't have a split second popup connected to your IM doesn't mean I'm silly and strange. My IM gets slow, then a blank popup comes up for 1 split second, and then IM goes back to regular speed for a minute until it slows down where it can't print text as you type it before the popup comes up again. The popup is blank with a small spinning circle thing in it indicating a data transfer.

No, I'm not making this up. I'm serious as a heart beat. You'd believe me if I showed you what it's doing. I have antivirus and Knightguard. We don't have virus problems. It's one of those kind of things you know happens, but refuse to acknowledge it so you ostracize me for making you uncomfortable.

Don't you think a keylogger would be more subtle?

There are plenty of keylogging programs out there which DON'T have a blank popup every few minutes. Why would the keylogger be made visible?

Finally. Someone attacks the message. Good question. It's subtle, but noticeable. I would say it's an amateur attempt at making this software application. I would say it's a Korean version of keylogging. Korea is not well known for software like it is for hardware. If you've navigated many Korean sites, you know what I'm talking about. There are also plenty of good scripts and web site formats that work smoothly in any browser, but Koreans choose to re-invent them to work only on IE which often is a buggy clunky attempt that freezes up or crashes.

This software I seen is most likely not an attempt to steal passwords so it's not secret, but to eavesdrop on what is being said in the IM. It's a work computer so yes, it can have software just to see what the user is doing. Many schools and companies do monitor computers so it's not silly or irrational that I seen it doing things that's indicative of a cyber police application running on it. They have every right to monitor a school or company computer as they see fit. It's my responsibility to not get personal on it such as saying something or someone sucks.

Couldn't it just be your computer slowing down?

Many IM apps save your conversation log. Maybe it is saving your info to a folder on your computer.

Perhaps it is something completely benign.

Definitely, you have no idea what you are talking about.

Perhaps they should start making mental health examinations a requirement to teach in Korea. Not just directed at AsiaESL, I have seen some pretty weird teachers come and go at my school as well.
