I apologize if there's already a thread. I didn't see it.
The film festival starts this Thursday, July 15, opening up with the film "The Experiment" and continue through July 25 I believe.
Anyway, I plan on going this Friday but I'm going up from Busan. Does anyone know the best way to get to Puchon from Busan? KTX to Seoul station? How about a good bus route? Any info would be much appreciated.
Also, what would be the cheapest way for myself and four friends to stay in Puchon?
Is anyone else going? I thought this would be a great weekend because many an annoying foreigner will be going to Mudfest (not to say you're an annoying foreigner if you're going to Mudfest, I have a lot of friends going).
Here's the English site with the films and times:

I would guess it would be quicker to take a bus directly to Bucheon. If you take a train to Seoul station you've still got an hour to an hour and a half to get to Bucheon.
There are scads of motels and hotels scattered around Bucheon, just like every other Korean city. You shouldn't have any trouble finding accommodations. |

Bucheon. It's a bus from Busan to Bucheon. You can call 051-1330 for information in English. It's the Busan Tourist Information Service.
Or you could take the KTX (I recommend taking the movie car) from Busan Station to Seoul Station, the subway from Seoul Station to Yongsan Station (two stops/six minutes), and then the express train from Yongsan Station to Bucheon Station (30 minutes, according to Seoul Metro Traffic Center interactive online subway guide). |

You can take the KTX to Seoul Station and then a bus from outside the station. It's maybe 1 hour from Seoul station? Subway wouldn't take too long either.
Or you can take a bus to Bucheon from Haeundae or Nopo Dong. That's the cheaper option but would take between 5 - 6 hours. It stops at Osan, Ansan, Suwon and then Bucheon. It's about 30,000 each way. |

As a film nut who has religiously attended film festivals in and around Seoul, I can say this year's selections at Pifan are a bit lacking in that they're not so "fantastic," as in not so many fantasy and sci-fi flicks.
That said, you can also stay at a jimjilbang if you really want to save dough. Just don't go in there drunk because the receptionist might not let you in. |
