It's been about 3 weeks now, I've sent my resume to different recruiters almost every day in those 3 weeks, and still no replies or job offers. Is this normal? I'm a US citizen 27 yrs old with an engineering degree, unfortunately no teaching experience or certification. I'm Asian but not Korean, does that pretty much mean it's a no go for me?

picture is there, only thing I requested is a single non shared apartment/studio, I'm pretty open to location and pay.

I was thinking about sending out follow up emails, but I guess i figured recruiters take your resume and run with it. The intro video is a great idea, thank you for that!

I don't think the video is completely necessary--but give it a go! Who knows, it might help you get the exact job you want.

Just keep in touch with the recruiters you want to continue to work with, and you should be fine. Don't worry about the long process, it takes forever for most everybody. The lack of replies might be due to the fact that many recruiters are fairly busy with EPIK/GEPIK/SMOE fall placement right now.

If I were you, I'd look at the JOBS tab here on Dave's and apply for every job under the sun which I were partially interested in, negotiate any contracts ltaer. Some may be direct, some may be through recruiters. See what responses you get, if any. In other words... I like to cast a big net then see what I catch.

Ever done any tutoring? Put it down as related experience to beef up your credentials.

Emphasize anything done relating to kids, e.g. I worked at a gym once which had an attached daycare. I emphasized my role within that area, even though it was just a small component of the job.

Consider getting an ITTT Tefl degree. $190 and it'll market you better, also would be good for you considering you have no experience. You'd learn some useful stuff.

If you start collecting some documents now you'll look more appealing. Have your letters of rec, transcripts, passport, degree ready to go at least. The background check only takes 2 weeks here, maybe you could list it as "in progress" -- all this looks like you're roaring and ready to go, again, making you more marketable.

Just some suggestions, anyway.

Why didn't you choose a major like engineering or information technology, where you could get a good paying job anywhere in the world, not just Korea.

thanks for the replies everyone, yeah I think I'm gonna have to switch up my resume a bit to emphasize some of the things I've done with tutoring and kids. All my documents are in hand even my criminal background check with an apostille (took me a day since I live in my state's capitol). I guess I gotta keep trying. Hopefully being Asian and not born in the US doesn't cause problems. And thank you morticae for the advice.
