I am in the process of returning to Korea after a few years in Taiwan. I am returning for a university position, but on an E1 visa. The problem is, I just got off the phone with the FBI in the States who told me that I would have to wait three months for the results of the fingerprint background check. Three months would put me a month and a half beyond my start date in Korea.
What I am curious about is...
Will Korean employers hire people provisionally before the results arrive?
Will Korean employers accept a name check, which the FBI said would be much quicker?
Has the new law started where they don't accept state checks and only accept federal? Apparently, state checks are quicker too.
I had no idea Korean immigration red tape had gotten so thick. Thanks for any experience or advice you can share. |
