Hey guys,
My recruiter wants to transfer my visa. I have called immigration 4 times and they have told me its not possible because theres a 5 week gap between contracts.
I told my recruiter this about 5 times now, and everytime she emails me back and says that I am wrong! Its really starting to annoy me.
Should I just let her try to make the Visa transfer? And then have my other documents ready for when she fails.
I am just very worried about sending my passport and alien card to her |

Don't send your personal info to anyone.
I have never heard of the 5 week thing, but I have never transferred Visas. It is totally possible that immigration are wrong 4 times. But even if they are, DON'T give your passport to another person (unless it's immi, unfortunately). |

I have heard of this 5 week thing. Although i can't remember if it was exactly 5 weeks, but there was a time limit of around that duration. I didnt transfer my visa myself, it was a co-worker who was transferring to another school. He was told about this limit by my school (they were obviously told by immigration). |

Actually, there can be no gap between the release date on your LOR and the start date on the contract with your new employer. Even a one day gap makes you ineligible for a transfer and you'll have to apply for a completely new visa. His recruiter is a tool. |

Actually immigration said you can have a 14 day gap, but no more.
My recruiter is just being a pain in the ass as they wont listen. I think I am going to contact my new school and explain that my recruiter wont listen.
At the moment im bouncing between immigration and my recruiter, and its driving me crazy.
They have to have my passport and alien card to make the transfer. Ive visited the new school, everything is legit and its all really good, so its just a case of getting the paperwork sorted.
I really appreciate your advice guys! |

Good news for you if its true. Just cut the recruiter out the equation and you and your new school can take care of transfer with immi. The third set of hands is unnecessary anyway - especially since your recruiter has demonstrated that he is incompetent.
In fact, you can get the paperwork from you school and go to immi and do it yourself. I've transferred three times and never took a recruiter or school rep to the immi office with me. In and out in 15 minutes each time. |
