Hey all,
I'm hunting work atm and having minimal luck finding positions I'm interested in. I'm trained in high school and adult teaching (CELTA) however... it seems this year's chance for public high school placement is over and all the adult positions are split shift.
Thus, my question to those in the know.
Are the only jobs currently elementary, middle, kindy or hagwon split shifts for adults?
If there are some high school or reasonable adult teaching positions out there... can you guys give me some ideas on how to land them. ?
Thanks |

A few months ago I was offered a position teaching middle school and high school from 3-10 pm. That was as close as I got; I was looking for either public schools or high school/ adults and didn't want to do a split shift either. I nearly took that job but was offered a public high school job literally a couple of hours before I had to accept or reject it, and I went with the PS.
It took months for either of those offers to come through, though, and I was with several recruiters. I'd scour the job postings on this website and check with some recruiters and tell them exactly what you're looking for.
It probably helps if you don't mind about location, too- the one I was considering was all the way down in Mokpo. Positions I was offered in Seoul were nowhere near as good as that one. |

Yeah it really sucks but it seems as though SMOE is basically sucking up all the friggin independent schools into a giant monopoly. It's going to create a really bleak job picture in 2 or 3 years. |
