|
|
I renewed with my public school a couple of months ago and also had to go to the immigration office for a visa extension or whatever. Well, it turns out Nothing was done to my passport, they only stamped the back of my ARC.
2011.05.25 <This is all the evidence i have of my contract renewal. nothing in my passport shows evidence of my visa being extended...
So my question is. I'm leaving for Thailand in a week, and my old Visa has the M, for multiple entry, on it. I'm wondering if the M is still valid for the second year or what....?
Thanks! |

I think the old M entry visa expired when your old visa expires. You'll either need to go back and purchase a new one or get a single reentry one from Incheon. |

On your visa is a "final entry date." Even though your visa got extended, this date did not. I'm assuming you're past this date if you did an extension, so yes you will now need a re-entry visa. |

I have never had a visa extension and haven't been on an E-2 for years, but you may just want to call immigration to make sure. It sounds like you might have to fork over the 30,000 for the reentry visa. I'd say call them. |

I went through the exact thing last year (right down to my destination) and I promise you that you need a re-entry. Don't learn the hard way like I did, having to do a visa run 2 days after I returned from vacation. |

thanks everyone! I'm goin to the imm. office today to get it squared away.
i just think its weird that the only thing that says i'm still legally in this country is stamped on my ARC, and NOTHING in my passport... just odd. |

Your Multi-entry status does NOT carry over into the extension period.
IF you plan to leave you WILL need to get a re-entry permit.
You can get a multi-entry permit at your local immigration office (50k won).
you can get a single use re-entry permit at the airport immigration office (30kwon).

Your ARC governs your status of stay. IT says you are legally in the country.
Your passport and visa are just for entry/exit purposes.
Unless you have / need / applied and paid for a re-entry permit OR changed your status of stay (E2 to F2/F3) there is no reason to mark anything in your passport.

Don't waste your time going to one of the offices. You can do the entire thing online!
www.g4f.go.kr
It's a little tricky to navigate, and you'll need a credit/debit card, but it works. Wait 2-3 days and you can print up the certificate from the site. |
