I started work at a university this year and compared to the hagwon I was at last year it's certainly a step up. However, the working situation is far from ideal and as university jobs go I'm sure it's not the best gig.
I'm just wondering whether, considering this is my first year at a university, it would be worth moving after just one year. I think maybe other universities would look on me better if I have at least two years at one place. What do you think?
I have an MA, CELTA and over a year's experience. I am British though and am worried that, as with hagwons, this may stand against me.
Also, how much of a hassle is it to change university jobs? I'm assuming I'd need new letters of reference, criminal check etc etc. Would the reference from my current job be looked upon as the most important?
Any comments/advice much appreciated! |
