Do you get a better exchange rate if you exchange won to usd travelers checks rather than cash and if so what banks actually have us travelers checks. How can I tell if I am getting the real deal? does it say American Express just like the ones in America?

Changing won to TC's used to get a noticeably better exchange rate than changing for cash -- recently, the difference has become less, but still exists (I think it was 5 won to a dollar better for TC's over cash when I converted on 6/17/2010 at KEB bank). It is now a pretty minor difference -- $5 per $1,000 US or so...may not be worth the "hassle" connected to TCs if you are only exchanging small amounts...but a bunch of 5s add up if you are exchanging several months' savings at one time....

I know that the exchange from won to American TC is easy to get,but I still need to know what company does the bank use(American Express) and how can I deal they are the real deal when I am at the bank?
Anyone?

You want to get Amex checks. Some banks here use "Thomas Crown" checks, which aren't as easy to exchange.
