With the warmer weather has come the mosquitos and those blasted little flies that hang around trash cans and sinks etc. Is there anything on the market that i can buy to deter them like the mosquito burner things?

I keep all my food away, i've bought a new trash can which is sealed tight and i keep my house spotless. I'm on the first floor for the first summer in korea though.

Anything i can do?

cheers

Try pouring boiling hot water down your drains. Are they little black flies? Bugs and odors can come up out of drains.

I get them in my shower. I filled a spray-bottle with bleach and give em a spray along with the drain every day.

I cut the top off of one of those 1.5 litre bottles. I fill up the bottom of the bottle half way with water and stick a banana peel in the water along with some honey. I take the top, invert it and stick it into the bottle and tape around the seam connecting the two pieces. The flies go in there to get the banana, can't find their way out, and drown in the water.

A bowl of vinegar or wine will do the same.

The answer lies in your question.

Do not leave out trash, especially of the waste-food variety.
Ensure sinks and drains are not blocked.

drain bugs.. I get them too. I find its related to moisture. The more humid it is the more that reproduce. They're coming from the bathroom drain. I've tried hot water several times, drano, bug spray... doesn't seem to effect them.

I'm specifically referring to mosquitos.

The screens are reasonably secure, no major gaps inbetween windows and frames etc......

Someone suggested they are coming in from the door when I open it but it's not like you'd get a new mosquito every 2-3 days running in behind you (unless Korean mosquitos are weirder than mosquitos in other parts of the world!?)

Anyone able to confirm the idea of mosquitos coming up through the drains?

Fill a spray bottle with equal measure bleach and water. A shot down the drains, into the bathroom fan grill and around door fame and window edges keeps away all insects includng mosquitoes.

Thanks - I'll try it. Hell it can't hurt at this point.

I get them year round - Have tried everything but I guess they are just too resilient. They are dumb as heck though, so it's quite easy to get rid of them once they are airborn.
