| not every bank does foreign exchange. at least half of the common branches do currency exchange. they will usually ask for an ARC or a passport to do the transaction. |

Most banks (certainly all with a forex desk) will TAKE (buy) RMB but won't stock RMB for sale.
Best bet (again, unless you are talking about multi millions of won) is just to exchange some at Incheon before you go.
Be aware that there ARE LIMITS on carrying RMB INTO China.
Best option,:
Buy about 100-200k won at Incheon.
Get the rest in US$ here and exchange them at any bank in China to get your yuan. The RMB is still pretty much fixed to the dollar so even if the dollar moves the exchange rate relative to the RMB will be stable and your loss on the exchange will be minimal.
Also, you won't need a suitcase to carry your cash.
$1000 = 10x$100 notes or 68x100rmb notes. |
