I'm signing my new contract tomorrow and my co-teacher told me I needed to get someone to sponsor me but it can't be anyone from my school. I had never heard of this before. I work at a public school, can someone shed some light on this issue?

The school gives it to you (sponsorship certificate/letter thingy majig), along with a copy of their Certificate of Business Registration - stamped and signed.

You'll need those two plus, a signed copy of your new contract, ARC card, passport and a health-check.

Application forms are there at immi.
30,000 processing fee plus -

30,000 single entry or 50,000 multiple.

Good luck!
