I am gonna be there for a week, and was curious how much money to bring.
I am booking my hotel in advance, so i don't need to worry about that.
How much are taxis to the sukhumvit area from the airport?

my spending will be on tours, a few nights out, food and a river cruise....

If your hotel is prepaid then you can get by on about $50 per day.

If you can afford it, bring $700 for your week. You can always talk any leftover money home with you. It won't spoil in your pocket.

If you plan to nightclub and party, $700-1000 is more in the ballpark. Drinks in some clubs can run you 5k won each (or more). BKK is not much different than Seoul in that regard. It can be pretty easy to burn a hole in your pocket if you are not careful.

Thanks!

Is it easy to get to Pattaya?

And is a taxi from the airport to Sukhumvit expensive?

taxi from the airport to most parts of town where tourists go is under 500 baht with tolls/tax.

short taxi rides in the downtown area are 100-200 baht at most.

Bottom line - as a tourist - a minimum of US$100 per day of stay (more if you don't want budget accommodation or plan to party hard).

If you hotel is pre-paid then you are fine on $100 per day and will probably take some home unless you go crazy on walking street or Patong beach.

If you plan on extensive diving... bump that up a bit too.

austinmc86 - it is easy to catch a bus or other transport from BKK to Pattaya. Buses run hourly (or more often) and cost about 100 baht.
