Hi, I did a search on this and couldn't find anything, but I just was about to apply to a recruiter called RBI Korea (I'm looking for a job in Busan and I here it is good at finding jobs there) and there was a big banner on the site saying "DO NOT USE ANY DRUGS PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL IN KOREA! THERE ARE NOW STRICT DRUG TEST AND YOU WILL BE BANNED!"

Is this true? Is it just for schools working with RBI Korea, or is this all schools in Korea? If (hypothetically) I had something to worry about with that, should I not apply to RBI Korea? Also, anyone know of other good recruiters for jobs in Busan?

Really? You did a search on drug testing and couldn't find anything? C'mon....

All E2 visa holders are required to take a medical exam after arriving in Korea, which includes a drug test.

You newbies are driving me crazy, and I'm a newbie! Razz

Maybe the search feature doesn't work on my browser, because I did a search and didn't find any topics pertaining to that on the first page-when I went to the second page, it gave me a server error. Then I tried again and the page just wouldn't load...I've never been able to find anything here using the search feature, usually it just gives me results that don't even have the term I'm searching for or just doesn't work at all. Sorry you had to take the extra 10 seconds to respond.

There's so much information out there on this. Haven't you done ANY research about coming to Korea as an English Teacher? If you do drugs, stay out.

If you can't figure out the answer to this you have no business stepping outside of your own front door, let alone going to a foreign country to teach English.

Even if you lie on the application saying you don't take narcotics, you're still subjected to a drug test upon arrival in Korea.

Any Drugs found in your system and you'll be deported before you knew what happened.

Here's a tip-

Drop this into Google for future searches:
site:forums.eslcafe.com/korea [insert search phrase]

For example:

One thing to keep in mind: marijuana was just added to the list of drugs tested for. I'm not sure when this commences. It could be 9/1/10 or 1/1/11.

This is true, the Coteach just informed me on the "new" canniboid test. She's not really sure what it all means either, they just sent her a ton of stupid as$ paperwork pertaining to little old yours truly. I hate all the fuss.

But, they've always gone ahead and tested me for it anyway. Maybe it's because I'm from BC.

I think it's pretty simple, though. If there's going to be a drug test, don't use illegal drugs before the test. Even if you hear they don't test for this drug or that drug, it's probably easier just ot not do any of them.
